CII Conference On Water Quality

30 June 2022

Industrial discharge, agricultural run offs, mining and sewage disposal have resulted in the contamination of both surface and groundwater by numerous pollutants including “Emerging Contaminants”. The environmental and human toxicology of most of these compounds have not yet been studied and many of these compounds are not or cannot be tested for in municipal water systems.

The objective of the Conference was to deliberate and discuss on water quality related challenges and aims to deepen our understanding on the emerging pollutants in water resources.

This Conference was joined by eminent leaders, strategic thinkers and captains of industry to share their views, discuss and deliberate on the upcoming and existing water and wastewater management technologies

This Plenary addressed the following issues:

Emerging Contaminants: Definitions; Threats and Challenges

  • Understanding Emerging contaminants and the hazards posed by their release in surface & groundwater
  • Sources of ECs and the methods to manage their spread in the sources of water

Role of Industry and Need for Monitoring & Control
  • Measures to ensure the clean, safe, and sustainable production, use and disposal of all chemicals
  • Decentralised systems of management
  • Treatment systems for removal of heavy metals Industrial Wastewater and brine concentration disposal
